Our Lost Soldiers

"A Special Prayer"

Tonight before I go to bed I'll say a special prayer.
That our men and women in uniform will receive God's special care
I'll start my prayer by asking God to help them to endure,
And protect them from the dangers as they face the challenges of war.
They're a special group of people with a difficult job to do.
So I'll ask God to give them courage And the strength to see them through.
May they each feel God's presence and have the
peace of mind to carry out their duties during this most difficult time.
I'll end my prayer by asking God to bless each and every one.
And to bring them all home safely when this war is finally won.

Casualties of ‘Enduring Freedom’
Before George Bush declared an end to major
fighting on May 1, 2003, the US death toll was 139.
Since Bush's May 1 declaration, 66 soldiers
have died in combat and 73 in a variety of accidents.

U.S. military deaths in the Iraq campaign passed the 1,000 milestone Tuesday, with more than 800 of them during the stubborn insurgency that flared after the Americans brought down Saddam Hussein and President Bush declared major combat over. 9/07/04

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The names of more than 700 American service members killed in Iraq will appear in a "Doonesbury" comic strip during the Memorial Day weekend.

The comic will list chronologically the names of 702 soldiers killed through April 23, said Lee Salem, editor of the Kansas City-based Universal Press Syndicate, which distributes the strip.
